The Vagaries of Variegation

Variegation is the appearance of differently coloured zones in the leaves and sometimes stems and fruit of plants.
Species with variegated individuals are sometimes found in the understory of tropical rainforests - or in this particular instance in the lush equatorial micro climate that's behind our garage. It has stubbornly refused to establish itself in a more picturesque environment within our garden - a definite case of hiding its light under a bushel!
