I Capture The (Scotney) Castle, Nr. Lamberhurst
Another train strike day today so another day I had to take as holiday. Me and my brother thought we couldn't waste the day just pottering around so decided on a trip to go and see Scotney Castle near Lamberhurst. It's somewhere we hadn't been in decades.
The castle itself was built in around 1378 with substantial additions added in the 16th and 17th Century but by 1836 the owner, Edward Hussey III, realised the castle was too cold and damp for habitation and so had the walls of the castle selectively demolished to leave it as a romantic fairytale ruin. This is what the main image shows. It is a very striking looking building surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The extras are more shots from different angles. On higher land in the grounds the owner then built himself a substantial mansion more befitting of his status.
We really enjoyed having a stroll around the grounds and then on the way home we had a very nice pub lunch. A good day!
