Filmhouse Closed

It was so sad to hear the unexpected announcement that the Edinburgh Filmhouse will cease trading immediately. The parent charity, Centre for the Moving Image, that runs it has called in the administrators.  I hope something can be done to get it reopened.  This Edinburgh institution will be missed by many including me.

We had a visit to the Festival Theatre to see Rona Munro's terrific play, James IV: Queen of the Fight.  We saw the three plays James I, II and III back in 2016 which were equally good but as I recall quite different.  This play looks at the court of James, those around him.  We see people work to curry favour and how their lives can change depending on whether they are in or out of favour.  It cleverly uses all the languages of the day - English, French, Scots and Gaelic with Spanish from the newcomers.  Strong performances from all the cast.
