Quintessentially English
The day started with some showers but soon cleared up into a sunny day. We spent the morning watching my youngest son play cricket, and when they broke for tea after the first innings and the opposition team had scored 160 runs for 4 wickets, we knew that our team was in for a good spanking (bearing in mind this is a bunch of 12 year olds)
Then in the afternoon we went to watch our older boys play tennis at a school in Hampshire. There were several teams playing cricket matches there and I was struck by this scene, so quintessentially English with perfect blue skies, green grass and the young men looking so distinguished in their cricket whites. Some parents were picnicking on the laws and it all looked so perfect - on a lovely day, there is nothing to compare to this.
