Almost a herd
I have never seen so many roe deer together. There were eight together when I first saw them (and they saw me). This shot was taken when they paused after running a short distance, and one male has stopped a bit further off. There is a doe with a broken leg I see often in the same area and she is not here, making at least nine using this field.
As I walked up the hill towards them, they split into two groups of four, so I guess it may be two groups sharing territories more or less amicably.
The picture is a crop almost at the limit of my lens, corresponding roughly to the field of view of a 600mm lens on a full-frame camera.
