1967: Che Guevara is executed

Quote Of The Day
I believe in "hatred as an element of struggle; unbending hatred for the enemy, which pushes a human being beyond his natural limitations, making him into an effective, violent, selective and cold-blooded killing machine."
(Che Guevara, Message To The Tricontinental)

“I ended the problem with a .32 caliber pistol, in the right side of his brain.... His belongings were now mine.”
(Che Guevara, on killing Eutimio Guerra on suspicion of passing on information, just prior to shooting and killing Aristidio, a peasant who expressed a desire to leave whenever the rebels moved on.)

Isn't it interesting how Che Guevara became a poster-boy for the left? His defiant image has adorned the walls and T-shirts of millions of fledgling militants and wannabe political activists. True, he played a leading role in the Cuban Revolution that overthrew the murderous Batista regime. However, this "selective and cold-blooded killing machine" generally selected homosexuals (whom he and Fidel Castro referred to as "sexual perverts") and Afro-Caribbeans as the targets for execution, torture, rape and working to death in his concentration camp in Guanahacabibes. It seems he learned a thing or two from Adolf Hitler as the motto of this concentration camp adapted the Auschwitz motto, "Work sets you free," into "Work will make you men."

Perhaps if Adolf Hitler rode a motorcycle and looked as cool as Che Guevara, we would wear him on our T-shirts.
