Carlisle walls

Our last day at the Borderlines Book Festival and we had 4 more events to attend. Our first was an early start at 10am looking at the Roman invasion of Britain. The presenter obviously knew her stuff, but it was an academic presentation and not really targeted at interested adults. I suspect that she didn’t sell many books. We had a long gap before our next event, so went on a walking tour of Carlisle.
After lunch we attended a talk by Amy Bateman , aFarmer and photographer in Cumbria. Lots of wonderful photos, but again problems hearing the talk. Our third event was from Dr Ian Smith, who was coroner in South Lakeland for many years. Some interesting stuff, but I suspect that a lot of his work was entirely boring.
Then we had our final event. Kate Fox who had written a book about Northern Women. So many women who had done amazing things but nobody has heard of them. Fairly typical. After all most of history has been written by men…An excellent final event.
Then we had a drive home in a downpour.
I got home to find Mr D had cooked supper. A good day.
Today’s blip is of the city walls of Carlisle.
