Encountering the Past
I have been going through some old photos as I prepare my brother's memorial presentation. Some that my sister sent me I've never seen before. This is one of them. My brother and me in 1957 at our home in Hudson. What was a wonderful flashback is the treehouse in the background. My grandpa and I built it the year before in an old apple tree. I have never seen a photograph of it! But there it is with the wee window and roof, my little hideaway. There is the table where I fed the squirrels too. Even way back then I loved the squirrels. This process has been both heartbreaking and joyful. This is one of those latter moments.
