The Day of Dad's Funeral
Thanks so much to everyone who gave good wishes for us today. The day worked out very well, helped by the bright autumn weather. As planned, we had a private burial attended by family members at the woodland cemetery where my Mum was buried 13 years ago: it was a double grave so Dad is now buried next to her.
Then after a family lunch at a local hostelry we had a service at the church where Dad recently attended (the church where he'd been a member for 70 years closed at the start of Covid and never re-opened). This was planned as a celebration of his long life and was well attended by both family and friends.
The main blip is of the flowers prepared by my one of my Sisters-in-Law (assisted by her 11-year-old granddaughter), ready to go on the coffin this morning. The extra is my Dad about 30 years ago, taken when he was President of his Rotary Club: we used that photo on the orders of service for this afternoon.
The end of a 99-year era!
