Nightmare Morning
Couldn't resist continuing from brief update yesterday to report on the early machinations of today as what started last night as a trip in the dark by L falling headlong into a sharp concrete wall ended this morning at 5 am with a drop of Woodford Reserve and in between we were treated to a live performance of what the current UK government have done to the NHS over the last 12 years.
6 hours wating to have stitches (2 inside and 4 on the outside) of a very serious gash in L's forehead is the clear result of understaffing and what is more serious, the evident lack of hope in even the doctors. Every member of staff was excellent and showed patience and kindness throughout, despite the huge pressure they were under. I made a point of thanking them and when asking for updates after we had breached the 4 hour target I was civil but persistent and never received any pushback, merely an apology from the Dr who helped L with her injury. He also expressed how hopeless he feels the situation is. Anyway, once we had had our 3 - 4 hours sleep it was encouraging to see L much more herself and able to do most things except bend down or reach down (this causes pressure and pain on the wound).
Couldn't resist this moment of humor to break up the monotony of waiting when LV donned the mask and glove at the reception to the A&E - I think the men were particularly concerned to avoid him on entry - that glove certainly looks threatening.
We then had a good cooked breakfast in the Black Knight and headed to Holt, a little town in Norfold which had the attraction for L of charity shops and for all of us a very good lunchtime café. We couldn't spend as much time as we would have liked as I had to catch up on work I had not been able to do yesterday and then today is the payroll. Once back in Reepham I managed to get caught up and LV cooked us a delicious Hello Fresh Bream dinner. Watche an episode of Industry and some 'Years and Years before all feeling pretty worn out and tired, it was time to try to catch up from the last 24 hours! Extra of the brave invalid just before the stitches ordeal.
