Breakfast

A few of us in the office usually order breakfast at around 10am - falafel sandwiches, or savoury pastries, or sometimes even pizza!

Today, one of the girls brought in a Syrian dish called makdous, which was prepared by her mother. It is pickled aubergine with walnuts, garlic, and olive oil. It's unusual because of the combination of textures, smooth aubergine with crunchy walnut. It's very tasty.

The girls in the Translation Unit prepared these simple dishes to go with it - cucumber, feta cheese, tomatoes, green chili peppers, red chili seeds, and a salty white cheese which is a bit like haloumi. We tore off piece of pita bread to scoop up food from the communal plates. Delicious!
