she's gonna blow!

here's a nice way to start off the work week. when my colleague walked outside to his car, there was a funny smell accompanied by a hissing noise. looking up, he noticed one of the transformers in front of the building was on fire.

we dialed emergency services, whereupon the fire department showed up. we were then told to stand back, and as they scratched their heads as to what to do - boom! she popped...

luckily no one was hurt after the pop, and the fire was extinguished with the blast. at this point, the fire department left, replaced by the public utilities force. can't fight a fire when there's no longer a blaze.
