Fairport Convention

I went with Martin to the first gig of the Fairports’ winter tour, at Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre. There were just four of them following the departure from the band of drummer, Gerry Conway. Despite that, the playing was very crisp, clear and tight.

Pre-gig dining was a bit more troublesome. The place we’d hoped to eat at was closed for a week for essential repairs. Nothing trivial then. The next place we tried looked great, was only a quarter full but they couldn’t “seat” us as they were “short in the kitchen.” So we ended up in beautiful downtown Oswaldtwistle having a curry.
