... for replacing the chimney next door--the view from our driveway early this afternoon. A big event: The first in-person meeting of the Hampshire Bird Club in two years this evening, across the river in Hadley, which featured a presentation on "Birds, Ants and Plants in Costa Rica"--ants were effectively the main subject, and it was fascinating.  Afterward I watched an excellent program on CNN on Frederick Douglass--a key advocate for ending slavery in 1860-64; he was himself a slave.
