River Torridge

A very pleasant 8 mile jog this evening, mainly following the Tarka trail which passes over the river five times in five miles
I heard a kingfisher and was fortunate enough to watch it for several minutes, it was quite vociferous and I tried to imitate it’s shrill call. I will never really know whether it was responding but it was certainly lovely watching and listening. A greater spotted woodpecker was similarly vocal in the top of a huge beech tree. The river was alive with fly life and dace were feeding well.
Earlier today (6:55am) I had to clear the ice from my windscreen.
