Stairway to hell

The curved bit of wall at the top of the stairs is - was - a nightmare of loose plaster and horse hair and lumpy bits.
B said we could maybe just clad it with wood.
I seized upon the chance and immediately proceeded to do that.
It’s now glued on and feels quite solid.
No one will ever know.
