Club Tropicana drinks are free
This morning got off to a great start. tooli locked us in her flat forgetting that we were inside
She had to complete her Uber drive and get another one back to free us.
Himself and I dozed til 10 (she had already taught three classes by then) and got up and sorted our clothes. Bed was the best ever. Best sleep for days
Tooli had left us instructions to ‘go start a
Pool day and I’ll join you when I finish school. Just book an Uber to ‘this place’ and go in and they will sort you’.
Well it wasn’t as easy as all that.
I used the app and called the Uber and we went outside. And lost the WiFi and the connection to Uber….
White car pulls up. We looked at him. He looked at us. ‘Uber’ we said . Yeah said he - starts driving
Driving for five minutes. He gets a phone call. Phone call was the person he was supposed to pick up. Stops car in middle of freeway. Drives Sideyways into hard shoulder
Holds phone up says ‘here’. I look University of Aberdeen. Hmmm no. I hold my phone up to him and show him a photo of beautiful hotel and pool.
He does search. He finds it. We take off along the highway and then cut sharp across all the lanes and turned in opposite direction ….
We eventually got there.
Got through security; walked the mile across the reception area with its chandeliers and waterfalls and asked for a pool day
And then we were directed down a long long corridor to the pool and the changing
Oh my. We walked down one flight of stairs and turn up another and there was the pool and the beds and the waiters with the fluffy towels and the little case with all the water for us.
And then said - you want to order anything it’s on your hand … I lifted my phone and he said ‘yes’
Well I looked and I looked but I couldn’t find anything to order.
Eventually as dehydration was taking over - I grabbed one of the lovely pool lads and said ‘how do I order’ and he points at my wrist band and said ‘qr code’
Then we were set…. Beer £10 a shot
I have no idea how they kept track of who was buying what but they did. Ha ha ha.
Tooli arrived after her last class; and joined us on the luxurious beds and we all took to the water and swam to the pool bar.
Then she showed us the correct way to the toilets. The way which didn’t involve going up a flight of stairs and then down
Anyhoos. As a child swimming in the dark was something I loved. I was determined to stay there tonight til we could.
With Doha, sun sets about six so we didn’t have to stay late but it was so lovely swimming around with the light shining thru the water and the sky turning all shades of blue and orange
It was just like club Tropicana. But the drinks definitely weren’t free
