Red Belted Galloway Calf

The Belted Galloway is a traditional Scottish breed of beef cattle and is easily recognised with its characteristic white belt which encircles the entire body, the rest of the body being black, dun or red.

Until today I had only seen the black and white cows but as L and I were driving between Elie and the Ardross farm shop we spotted a mixed herd of cattle which included a couple of Red Belted Galloways with their calves. This wee one came up to the fence to give us the once over before going back to mum.
