Showing off his Plumage

He came three times to this perch at the hide, what luck that I was alone there, no noise, no movement, so I could stand well back from the gaps in the hide! Apparently the males have an all black beak and the females have the bottom half with an orangey colour so this is a male. I couldn’t quite believe that I have seen kingfishers twice in a week after years of no sightings at Villeneuve. Our local hospital is just 5 minutes away and we had to come down for our covid boosters today, hence a second hide visit.

Extra from the front.

No time for comments tonight as I teach till 20:30, then a break for 2 weeks.
