The Baby Clinic

A trip to Beamish Museum today where there was a 1950's baby clinic set out in the Miners Welfare Hall.  I have a very vague memory of attending one when I was a little girl and we used to get given free bottles of orange juice which I loved.  Apparently, baby milk and cod liver oil was also given out at these clinics for free as part of the Welfare Foods Programme - I gather it must have been something to do with the NHS.
