Kirking of The Council

This is a shot of an annual ceremonial event called 'Kirking of The Council'. It marks the start of The Council year, and The High Constabulary of Edinburgh play a significant role.
This photo shows some of the constables returning to The City Chambers after the service at St Giles Cathedral. The constables wear top hats and carry ceremonial batons made of wood or silver.
