Trimming, Milling & Cooing.

Today is an event packed programme.

Having delivered Pat to the Art Club in Rutland Square I then drove to the Royal Botanical Garden. After coffee and cake I then walked all around the garden taking photos of the autumn colour. Over 70 photographs. I have shown just one as the third extra.

The main entry shows one of the gardeners trimming a tree.  I believe he is about 25 metres above ground level. He is safely secured and certainly seems quite relaxed. There is a support team of gardeners on the ground.

I then returned to Rutland Square and Pat and I headed East out of Edinburgh to East Linton and Preston Mill, a National Trust for Scotland Property.

Part of the Mill Building is shown in the first extra. Fans of  Outlander May recognise the building.

This is well worth visiting. The mill has been in operation for about 400 years. All of the mechanism works driven by a water wheel. Another 45 photos!

The property manager and the guide who gave us a personal tour are true enthusiasts and rightly so.

Also on the same property is the Phantassie Doocot which was home to over 500 pigeons. The building design is very unusual and is very similar to  the ‘columbiers’ of Southern France.

The route between the mill and the Phantassie Doocot is about 400 metres and includes crossing the River Tyne by footbridge and then a tarmac road.

Be careful though. The Mill building has flooded several times over the years. The footbridge has a water level board in plain sight.

I suspect that the footbridge has come close to being covered by water as well.

We travelled back home via Costco to fill up with petrol and then drove around the Edinburgh ring road, most of the time in first and second gear. Traffic was very heavy.
