Ring-necked Duck

I hate when people say 'this is a poor photo'...as we can see that it is a poor photo!
Anyway, this is a poor photo of An American duck on the Peedie Sea in Kirkwall. It was found originally by visiting birders and I did see it yesterday but the photo's were even poorer. I would find it difficult to tell from tufted duck (with which it interbreeds) but this morning I was with a pro and he found it. The guides say these can often be escapes from collections but, with the winds blowing in lots of American birds to the UK and Ireland over the last fortnight, this might well be a genuine American.
