London trip
Up to London on the train this morning to meet up with Adam. We had quite a trip planned which all worked very well, although I was tired out by the end.
We started at Waterloo and walked along the Embankment past the Covid Memorial Wall opposite the Houses of Parliament. Ended up at Tate Britain, where we had a lovely coffee and snack, and a hour or so walking through the free galleries - so much to look at!
After that, we walked to the newly open Battersea Power Station, where we struggled to find anywhere for lunch that didn’t have a massive queue. I hadn’t realised this was the first weekend it was open so unsurprisingly it was heaving. Extra shows the outside and the inside, which is a huge and horrible retail complex. Not sure this will turn out to be the right climate to open it on but time will tell.
After this, we caught the boat up to Tate Modern to see the latest installation in the turbine hall, but I can’t say I was all that impressed. And finally, we found somewhere quiet for a cup of tea before I headed home and the boys headed to Adam’s as Paul is staying overnight. Great day all round!
Other extra is a shot of a group of tourists photographing each other with Big Ben in the background. I loved the light falling on them as we walked through the tunnel.
