Tower Bridge

I really enjoyed visiting Tower Bridge today.

It's great fun to see inside the structure, and to walk over the upper walkways which have a lovely view.  They also have a section with a glass floor where you can look down on the river and bridge deck below.

The engine room is fun too.  There are old steam boilers and steam powered hydraulic pumps, and the old hydraulic system for opening the bridge.  I love these Victorian machines where you can see exactly how they work!

We picked a place for lunch afterwards completely at random, and were astonished when approached at high speed for a hug by one of the people working there - my cousin once removed E (who was a bridesmaid at our wedding but we haven't seen for a few years).  an Incredible coincidence!  Great to say hello, and hopefully we'll catch up with her for a coffee before we head home.

Later we took a boat up to Westminster then explored some of the other London landmarks CyclopsJnr knows from TV.
