Darned socks

Been having a sort out of my wardrobe (trying to find something that actually fits). Anyway proceeded to sew on some buttons on a blouse and found these at the bottom of my mum's sewing box. Not sure anyone darns anything anymore in this throw away society.
Says the woman who has just cleared out two bin bags full of clothes!
