Saturday: Placencia
We have left Barney with a tin-opener and are having our first overnight trip in Belize. We’ve driven three hours south and are now in Placencia on the coast. Well, it took us three hours, it would take a Belizean about half the time…..they’re pretty speedy on the roads. We would have been quicker had we not stopped at ‘Betty’s Tamales’ on the way where we had excellent…..erm…….tamales.
It’s shoulder season so it’s quietish but, ordinarily, it attracts a good number of tourists. That said, it’s quite discreet in its touristy nature.
We’ve enjoyed a good walk on the beach, explored the village, and had good food here. Excellent news too, there’s a craft brewery here. Bad news, it doesn’t open until November.
