Old friends

There's a monthly dinner we hold.  Sometimes there's a big bunch of us and sometimes a little smaller crowd attends.  But the surprising thing is that the number doesn't matter.  We always have a good time, always miss the ones who aren't there,  and always set up next month's meeting.
