Above the clouds
Not too early a start but it was fun to be on a long haul flight again. I was over the wing so couldn’t see much but here the Virgin Atlantic red looked dramatic above the clouds. At this point we’re over Greenland I think.
V met me at LAX and we went to David and Nan’s house in Glendale. It Lovely house where they’ve lived for decades, it was built in the 1930s and is in a narrow canyon sloping down to a busy road but up in the house you can’t see that at all and its peaceful. The garden is full of cactus and succulents, as all right thinking modern LA gardens are, and they look wonderful. She’s trying to make it water free except for some old orange trees. They have just had a long drought but as I arrived it had been raining. True to form, V always says I bring rain to LA. We are actually staying in Alexis’s house so we went over to dump our stuff and go out for dinner Her house is a Hollywood bungalow , familiar from the old movies and she keeps it minimal and lovely. Old wooden floors with some dark painted areas otherwise soft whites and with a lot of artful pieces of wood. Looking forward to exploring her garden tomorrow as she’s a landscape gardener by profession.
