Argiope anasuja.

Also known as the Signature spider, this giant arachnid is apparently a harmless orb weaver, building a web in a zig-zag manner. It is hard at work in a bush in my front garden, and I didn't want to get too close as it is about 3 inches across.
In other news, I went to the garden centre with friend Lisa to do some serious plant viewing (and buying) and having a good old catch up after several months. Café con leche con hielo at the Jaime Mascaro cafe rounded things off nicely on an unseasonably hot day. The shoe brand Pretty Ballerinas has a customised old BT phone box outside the store (see extra).
