The Mens

We did a bit of forest bathing at The Mens nature reserve. I've been meaning to go for several years as it's renowned for its plentiful supply of fungi - more than 600 species. We didn't find all of them, but there were certainly plenty in evidence. It's an ancient woodland and fallen trees are always left in situ which, along with copious amounts of leaf litter, provides a perfect environment for fungi to flourish. It's rather like going back in time to how woodlands used to be, complete with a very earthy smell.
