Wonderful day!
Boston Stump, as St Botolph's, Boston is affectionately called, always pops up on the horizon when driving round these parts, a beacon in a flat landscape...
A bit more sorting of stuff, then out to customer I've not seen for a few years - as with previous visits, I left with a nagging feeling that he beats his wife... At the very least he's very controlling, and publicly criticises her... uncomfortable. As with 2 of my 3 previous visits, no sale - though he took a photo of those he liked and said he'd order before Christmas - which, to be fair, he has done before when not ordering on a visit...
And then my day took off! Nice visit in Spalding to regular customers I'd call friends - had said they'd not order on the day, but their friends probably would... so was a bit worried when they said their friends couldn't make it in the end... but they decided to order a case now, with some fizz to try, then save their "proper order" till a bit later...
Then things REALLY got better - found a sports bar in Spalding to watch probably the most exciting 1-0 ever, surrounded by passionate Liverpool fans... it had already been a match to get the heart pumping, including near misses and a disallowed goal, moments of aggro between players, poor refereeing, top quality play, and Jurgen getting "sent off"... and then the ref prolonged the agony by adding 6 minutes of "injury time", which became 9, before eventually blowing the whistle for a famous victory which is a big psychological boost for my team after their worst ever start to a Premier League season, up against the strongest club team in world football.
My heart-rate had just about slowed to normal for my final tasting of the day at Lloyd & Sam's - enjoyable, again more friends than customers, and a surprisingly large £500 order.
Northumberland tomorrow!
