From coal face to wild space
Spent the day over at Fairburn Ings, run by the RSPB. Shaped by coal mining, it is now a top place for waterbirds. (Ings being the Norse word for damp or marshy land)
There were a lot of big lenses on display, but it doesn't matter how big your lens is, if the kingfisher doesn't show up!
I settled for this coot as I don't see them round my area. Back home, whittling another spoon, the mouse turned up. Was tempted to go with him for today's blip, but will no doubt get another opportunity. The wren was also hopping around just an arm's length away from me. Beginning to feel like David Attenborough!
Bank Holiday joyousness tomorrow, happy days.
