La mammarazza

Logger's rest

Reward after a long afternoon chopping up lots of wood. The andirons, quite common in French fireplaces, are in the figure of Eugenie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon the Third (1853 to 1871). She was popular, so her effigy was made into all sorts of household objects.

In a more technical vein: I first took the picture with my (2-year-old) Canon Compact, then took the same scene with my iPad. Even though it's not a dedicated camera, the iPad won hands down for realism and precision.
