Monday: Security

Today felt like a good day at work.  Things started to make sense and I even managed to advance a few things.

Last week I posted a picture which showed our compound at work and a few comments picked up on the barbed wire and security.  

This is our home compound.  We have fencing and barbed wire which surrounds the compound area where we live, alongside my colleague and her husband.  We also have 24 hour guards at the gate.  The fence and the gates are very high and topped with wire.

Per capita Belize has the fifth highest murder rate in the world.  That said, the figures are skewed.  Most of the violence is gang-related and in the south side of Belize City which is a no go area.  With a population of about 400,000 for the country statistics can be a bit flawed.  Nonetheless, this results in tight security at home.
