12 Minutes

We used a gift voucher today for a trip to Bletchley Park, home of The World War Two Codebreakers.
We have been before, but it was just as they were putting the finishing touches to an exhibition entitled D Day, and we always said we would go back again to see it.
It is excellent. The highlight of the exhibit was an immersive cinematic 12 minute experience exploring Bletchley Park’s secret D Day role.
It is situated in the restored Teleprinter Building where the intercepted messages first arrived.
Fascinating look at the part they played in intelligence and the impact it had on the war.
Apart from it’s now most famous history, Bletchley Park was actually used as a teacher training college and local GPO headquarters. I joined British Telecom in 1980 for my first job, and in the following years visited Bletchley Park for various work related seminars and events. The last being an interview location in one of the huts round the side of The Mansion, which at that time were getting very run down indeed.
Since Bletchley Park Trust was formed in 1992, it has been restored to provide a superb museum. Suffice to say, we’ve had a lovely day and it was most definitely blip heaven.
