for the record

This is not the prettiest fall photo I have ever posted, but it is dear to my heart. This is our new maple tree that was planted to replace our old peach tree. The maple was planted in March (much to my surprise considering the cold and snow we were experiencing). It arrived without leaves, and just as it sprouted some tender green leaflets we had a heavy snowfall. I wasn't sure it would survive but it did. Then we had a very dry summer and I supplemented its water intake with my hose. Now its leaves are torn and worn, but the tree is growing and the leaves put on a fall show.
