Success!
To my utter amazement and delight the sourdough loaf is perfect.
I yelped with excitement when I took it out of the oven and saw the telltale patterns on the top which made it look exactly like a real sourdough loaf.
It had to cool for a couple of hours, so I went to help in K’s garden, all the time dreaming of lunch.
It was worth the wait.
I first tried the bread on its own, then had a bit with a dribble of artisan olive oil, followed by a piece smeared with boysenberry jam and finally a chunk with a sliver of butter. The last one was easily the tastiest mouthful, so I had an extra slice smothered in butter.
Sourdough is going to become a regular bake now. Woohoo!
