After another fab breakfast, we collected up our belongings and decided to walk along the Seine to Chatelet. There were a few wrong turns where the path was blocked but it was a dry bright morning. A bit scary at the Metro when the line was shut for maintenance, so a bit of a Metro detour was needed, but we arrived at Gare de Nord on time. After checking in and going through to the platform, our train broke down, so we all had to plug back up to departures. Eventually we could board a new train and we’re underway, and thankfully the carriage was much quieter than the outbound one.
We met Keith and Naomi and had lunch, French toast with clotted cream and a huge variety of fruit, delicious.
Back to Paddington for the train home and hugs goodbye at Reading.
