Life through the lens...

Wrong!

All these years I have called this plant ‘ Virginia Creeper ‘ and all these years I have been wrong.
Because of blip I looked up the botanical name, and found out it is actually Boston Ivy. However they both belong to the same family, and change to red in autumn, but the leaves are different.

Boston Ivy has one leaf split into three lobes.
Virginia Creeper has five serrated leaves on a central stalk.

This climber covers the house opposite. It has now reached almost halfway up the roof. Covers the Sky dish and almost covers up two of the upstairs windows.
Every autumn it changes to this gorgeous red colour and as the leaves start falling many blow into our driveway. Interesting to see that the underside of the leaf is almost silver in colour. Another of nature’s wonders.

No sun today I’m afraid, and rain forecast for tomorrow. Think the weathermen may have got that right as our barometer is going back to ‘Change.’
