Last full day

We were a bit slow getting going this morning but eventually got the bus to the fish market and had a good look around, wondering at the sights on each stall and the range of smackingly fresh fish and seafood. We decided to just pick all the various things we fancied and share them. I chose oysters, sushi/sashimi and snapper crab and avocado salad, K got lobster Thermidor and grilled scallops and chips. All delicious! We had to fight a bit with the seagulls and bin chickens, but still enjoyed our lunch on the harbour side.
Very warm sun and a hotter day than I’d expected, so when we walked from the market up to the CBD we were both flagging, but I’d thought I might get an extra plate from the set I’d bought one of yesterday so we found the stockist so went up there. Very unhelpful assistant but it seemed they didn’t have the one I wanted in stock.
We walked down to the opera house…K had wanted to have a glass of fizz there so we wanted to tick it off our list, given we’ve done everything else. We were both quite weary though by then, partly because of the heat. We passed some filming going on but didn’t wait around to watch, then settled down for a rest and a drink. There was a huge cruise liner docked across the harbour….those enormous ships look so out of place even in a large harbour against huge buildings (let alone in Venice where we saw them before).
We watched a man with a dog run around the terrace chasing seagulls away…a seagull patrol according to his T shirt….could have done with them at the fish market!
Caught the ferry over to Balmain to see DK. She walked us around the neighbourhood and we saw the shops, range of gorgeous houses, parks and various different waterfronts. We chatted away about all sorts, then back to her place (and a great view from the swimming pool on the roof!), enjoyed cheese and snacks as dusk fell and loved the view from her apartment as the lights of North Sydney came on. Got a taxi home…only 10 minutes away.
Spent the rest of the evening packing…forcing stuff into our cases and wondering how we’ll get it all in!

It was another 9 mile day…no wonder we have sore feet and aching legs! Neither of them as painful as watching Westminster farce from afar….good grief what a complete shambles.
