Jack Vettriano
Today Mrs AMK had arranged to visit the Jack Vettriano exhibition in Kirkcaldy with a friend but the friend was unwell and I was taken instead.
This well known Scottish artist was like me born in St Andrews but a couple of years later and changed his name from Jack Hoggan.
He has a very distinctive style and the blip shows one of these “ The Singing Butler “ which sold for around £3/4 million. Most of the paintings in the exhibition are from private collections and the extra shows another of his well known pieces “ Bluebird at Bonneville “ inspired by the life of Sir Malcolm Campbell and was commissioned for the Bluebird Club in London
This was a rare chance to see so many original Vettrianos and the exhibition that has been running for quite a while closes on Sunday. Of course we went for a coffee and scone afterwards and somehow managed to take a lengthy wrong route on the way back to the car and clocked up 8000 steps !
