Incy wincy

There were some very portentous flashes of light in the sky this morning before the day had dawned. It was quite surreal.
This is possibly the teeniest, tiniest spider and a very poor photo through a grubby window on an endlessly wet day in Carlisle. I was watching it battle a fragile web in the wind and rain and took this exactly at the moment Liz Truss was resigning. Small spider, big context.

After work, I headed back and met up with the gang for supper and a catch up.

A Noiseless Patient Spider - Walt Whitman

A noiseless patient spider,
I mark'd where on a little promontory it stood isolated,
Mark'd how to explore the vacant vast surrounding,
It launch'd forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself,
Ever unreeling them, ever tirelessly speeding them

And you O my soul where you stand,
Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the
spheres to connect them,
Till the bridge you will need be form'd, till the ductile
anchor hold,
Till the gossamer thread you fling catch somwhere,
O my soul.
