The Buttermere Birch

I met up with another guest who's up for the week, and we went to Buttermere.  The forecast suggested 13 degrees, but neither of us had allowed for the high winds - which were pretty fierce. As the day went on, we did start to feel cold, so ended with a brew in the café.

I did like the way the high water levels left the tree isolated within the lake.

Although it remained overcast all day, the clouds were amazing, as you can see from the photo. It's amazing how much the weather can change in a day, after yesterday's cloudless blue skies.
