Bracken Bales

Swimming was a noisier affair than usual as a small fleet of tractors were bumping across the lower fell side mowing and baling the browning bracken. It's not that usual to see bracken bales but they could have been going to the Dalefoot composting enterprise that blends Herdwick sheep's wool with the fern, thus combining usefully two products that would otherwise be redundant.
