A coneflower blooming in the garden we were at today.
Just Tonja and I working this morning. We heard a lot of sirens and they seemed to stop about a block or 2 from where we were working. At one point we thought we could smell smoke, but couldn't see anything. We could hear people on 2 way radios, but could not understand what they were saying. All I could find online was a hasmat call on Linden Lea, which was a nearby street. When we went out front, we could see that both ends of the street we were on were blocked off. Just as we were getting ready to leave 2 guys walked down the street, and I knew they had talked to the cop at one end. I asked them what was going on and they said it was a gas leak. After I got home I checked some other sites and found out they were right. Some people were evacuated because of the wind direction. Traffic had to be detoured around the area.
I finally got a new desk today, after the movers broke the one that I had. When they first arrived, they said it is not going to fit thru the doors. Then the only guy with a brain decided if they took the leg off it, they could fit it thru the doorways. At least they picked it up, brought it here and put it together again free of charge. I will never use those movers again or recommend them to anyone.
The bluejays had a good feed this afternoon. I put out some peanuts and filled the sunflower seeds in the feeder. They took all the peanuts, then finished most of the sunflower seeds and finally discovered the corn that was there. There was also a squirrel checking things out. Then a grackle showed up. The word is getting out there to come to the deck for food. It keeps the cats entertained.
I am feeling better tonight. This is the first evening since Sunday that I have spent more than an hour on the computer.
