Walking in the sunshine

An impromptu change of arrangements meant I was picked up at Huddersfield station. What a pleasant surprise. The huge Victorian square was a delight in the May sunshine. Dominating the area in front of the columned portico of the station was a statue of former PM Harold Wilson. Nice that his achievement in starting the OU was mentioned.

As often happens a link to something I noticed crops up very soon after. Guardian's monday editorial quotes Engels regarding Huddersfield as the 'handsomest town of all the factory towns in Lancashire and Yorkshire' The centre certainly is striking in its aspect and architecture.
