The Phoenix Rises

Fast

South of Dunbar we had a wonderful night camping in Claudette (Dam Van), in a little roadside quarry. Along this road was the beginning of the walk to Fast Castle, ( or perhaps faux castle). Seemingly the scoundrels that lived there used to light fires to lure ships onto the rocks. It is a spectacular place but the steep cliffs and interesting narrow ramp to reach it, tested my resolve.

Being ever so slightly cowardly in regard to heights, this was a challenge.
After an hour or so wallking and sightseeing, I almost stopped shaking....almost.
Health and safety hasn't reached this outcrop yet. Not for the young or infirm, so I just squeaked in there.

Fast Castle to St.Abbs and onwards to Berwick. We toddled round like the tourists we were. It may have been blowy, but it was mild and sunny.

Back towards home via the beautiful Lammermuir hills past Red grouse a plenty and down into Leith for a spot of fish at Loch Fyne ........yummydelicious.

We've had a great weekend and Claudette was a star, but these old bones need to have a long rest tonight.
