Goodbye Tree
All the time we've lived in this house (36 years) this formerly beautiful rowan tree has been the focal point of the garden. It was a mature tree when we first moved here so I don't know how old it is. Well, I should say, how old it was. Today the rowan was cut down by three cheery young tree surgeons.
It's always sad to see a big tree cut down. However this one was diseased and had lost its vigour. It had many bare branches and far fewer leaves and berries than in the past. It was the right decision but I'll miss what we've always known, despite there being other trees in the garden, as 'the tree'.
Here's one of the tree surgeons with his chainsaw and a waterfall of sawdust falling to the ground.
Political turmoil continues. Even so, I hope you have a good weekend.
