Walking their mobiles, with a dog

I went up the road for a walk and looked back across to the far side of the Golden Valley in the distance.

In the relative foreground I spotted this couple emerge from the ancient path downhill through the woodland where the ruins of Weyhouse Farm lie. The Wey ('weg' in old English) provides a pathway from the top of the Cotswold hills down into the valley and across to Rodborough Common, where originally it would have led to the Iron Age hill fort astride the hilltop.

I was amused to watch the young couple realising they could get signal again on their phones. the dog seemed less pleased as it was eager to keep walking.

The Weyhouse farm buildings were pulled down after the Second World War to stop them being squatted. A few of their farm workers cottages were destroyed too, and only the rubble remains.
